This piece is the outcome of my work from the past few months, my work has been focused on the more sinister aspects of society and the problem with street crime. It is also a progression from my interest in night photography and of isolated, lonely imagery. 'Oiche' explores the role of the viewer, just by watching they become part of the piece, there role however is undetermined, are they part of the crime, just by watching or an innocent by stander coming across a crime. This piece also allows the use of video to be explored, a seemingly still imagery is changed by only slight movement and the use of sound. It also focuses on the contradictions that exist in society, when the topic of crime is being discussed the Minister for Justice would have us believe that the problem with crime is under control, while nearly every day the headlines of our papers tell a different story.
