I like to make work surrounding the idea of tautologous or self-relfexive art, art that is aware of itself and makes the viewer aware of it. There is an emphasis on the simplification of art, art that does not need to be complicated, which is important to me and reflects my attitude that modern art is overtly and overly conceptual. The work is intended to be playful and light but also to force the viewers' awareness to the act of viewing art and is almost ridiculous in its attempts to be non-conceptual, undermining the viewer in its simplicity. This line of inquiry has led me to produce work that portrays the act of making art itself, in other words, breaking down the process of art-making and explaining it to the viewer.
